My Review

First, I want to say that I’ve read quite a few books by Miller and I’m a fan of her work! However, I’m a bit undecided how I feel about this book. It took me a while to get through this one – though I think it had more to do with just having a baby than the book itself – but I also found myself not running to pick it up any time I had a free minute. I did enjoy the book while reading it and thought it was a cute story. I’m always a sucker for single dads – I’m not sure what it is about them, but I find them so endearing! Plus this story had the added benefit of legal issues, and since I went to law school and have my law license, it was a nice element! 

That being said, this book didn’t grab me like other stories have previously. The characters were very likable, but I wasn’t in love with them, except Matt (he’s adorable!). I think this book focused too much on the legal issues going on with some of the minor characters in the community, and not enough on Melissa and Steven’s relationship. They didn’t seem to have enough time to get to know each other and all the feels weren't really there for me. 

Even though this wasn’t my favorite book, I still enjoy Miller’s work and will continue to read it.

My Review

This is the first book I've read by Belinda Williams and I must say that I loved it! I didn't read the others in the series, and honestly didn't realize it was a series until I started reading. But that didn't take anything away from this story at all.  I really love how Cate has a list (whether in her mind or actually written down) about what would make the perfect person for her. Honestly, my husband and I are quite different and I think it makes life so much better! But Cate thinks she has an idea of what she wants, until she meets Dave. While she really likes him, he doesn't meet her criteria, so she questions whether to move forward. Meanwhile, she meets another guy who does meet everything on her list. Needless to say, she has a difficult decision ahead of her! 

This story was really cute and I loved reading every bit of it. I really want to go back and read the others in the series, regardless of knowing how they turn out. Williams has a way with writing that really grabbed me and her characters are so fun. I would definitely recommend this book to any other romance fan! I had a hard time putting it down!

My Review

This is the third book in the Pilot's Hockey series by Sophia Henry. I've read the other two and enjoyed those, so I really wanted to read this one. I'm also a big hockey fan and love stories that incorporate this sport into the story. This was a cute, short book by Henry that I enjoyed reading. It wasn't my favorite book, and the others in the series are better, but I still liked this one. I wish hockey had more of a role in this one and I feel like it's not really part of the Pilot's series since they're barely mentioned in here. I also wish the characters were developed a little more. We learned some interesting things about them, but they didn't capture me like some of her other characters have.

Despite all of this, I still thought this was a cute read and I'm glad I read it. I love romance stories and sometimes a quick read is exactly what I'm looking for. I do think people should read the others in this series first because they were better, but this is still a good read.

This was a cute, quirky book that I enjoyed reading. I haven't ready anything else by Cassie Mae (aka Becca Ann) and I'm glad my first glimpse was this book. I really love books where friends become more, especially if they've been pining for each other for a while! One thing I did think was a little weird is how Theresa followed Alec on his date. I really wish she would have told him how she felt about him, especially since she had an idea that he felt the same way. But this is also what made the book quirky and fun. All in all, I thought this was a cute book and I'd recommend it to my friends!

This book was really fast-paced! I swear, from the minute I picked it up, things were always happening. Rarely was there any down time and it really fit the style of the story. I liked that it was fast moving and there wasn't a ton of detail about things that didn't really matter. When Lia and Ash meet, Lia is very hesitant to talk to him, much less let him in her house. And let me tell you, she's got good reason not to trust anyone. But once she realizes that he is a former friend's grandson, she takes a chance and decides to help him. As time goes on, they work with each other to get better, both physically, mentally, and emotionally. Everything comes to head at the end of the book when Lia's worst nightmare comes to life, and this time she has Ash to worry about as well. 

This is the first book I've read by del Mar and I really enjoyed it. I really liked both Ash and Lia and it was interesting to see how they interacted with each other. I thought it was really cute that Lia is such a lost and broken person, and she takes in stray animals who are injured and have no where else to go. Overall, a really good book; I enjoyed reading it.

My Review

I really, really liked this book! I read If I Stay a while ago and really wanted to read this one right away, but it took my a while to find a copy (I generally only buy used ones when they're on sale otherwise I'd be broke!) I actually didn't know it was from Adam's point of view until I started reading it. I hadn't read the synopsis because I just knew it was a sequel to the first and wanted to read it. 

I have to say, I really loved reading this from Adam's perspective. I thought it was a really unique way to continue the story and it was great to find out what he was thinking. Plus I connected with him right away and loved his character. My heart just broke for him throughout this book; really, it broke for both him and Mia. So many feels in this one! We watch as Adam struggles with his life as a "rock star" and how it's not as perfect as it may seem to outsiders. Meanwhile, Mia is being treated with kid gloves after losing her parents and little brother in an accident. But Mia definitely seems to be coping better than Adam is. Sometimes I'm not sure how his bandmates put up with him for so long! But one night brings Adam and Mia together again after 3 years apart and they both figure out what they really want for their futures. 

Seriously, this book has so many feels! I started it yesterday and finished today. I couldn't read it fast enough and I was hard pressed to put it down last night before bed. If you haven't read this series, I highly suggest you do so! I really can't wait to read what else Forman has written. I'm a little slow to her scene, but I plan to read them all soon!

I really liked this book. I thought it was a cute story and a second chance at love for these two. Justin and Peyton have a bit of a history that no one really knows anything about. But in their senior year of high school, they're paired together for a project. No better way to get these two talking again! I really loved when this happened and it forced both of them to figure out what they wanted and how to resolve their pasts. It was fun to watch these two get to know each other again. I have to say, this won't be the last Rachel Harris book I read! I think she's a great storyteller and I can't wait to find out what else she has. I also really want to go back and read the first book in this series.

My Review

I read Anna and the French Kiss a while ago and absolutely loved the story. From that point on, I knew I wanted to read the rest of the books in the series. It's taken me a long time to get here, but I finally read the second one, Lola and the Boy Next Door! I actually didn't know anything about this book when I picked it up; I just knew it was the second in the series. And I have to say, I will definitely be reading the third!

This was a really cute book. I loved Lola because she was so different from a lot of other YA characters. She has her own style and doesn't really let anyone change that. And Cricket was a neat character too. I liked that he changed his ways and made things up to Lola. And I also loved that Lola's parents are gay men; it really made the story fun and interesting. Obviously they aren't any different from straight parents, but I have to say that I don't think I've ever read a book with gay parents before. I really just love seeing diversity in books, so I was happy to read this. 

Overall, really fun book. I loved Lola's personality and Cricket was a great supporting character. I even liked Calliope because I could relate to her a bit. I do think this is a great YA series and I'm on the bandwagon with all the other fans! (:

My Mini Review

This was one of those free books that I grabbed from Amazon because it sounded really cute and fun. And that definitely held true. I loved reading about Rye and Tory and I loved their meet-cute. Even though Rye's manager(s) wanted Tory along for an image reason, Rye really wanted to spend time with her and thoroughly enjoyed her cooking. It was interesting to see how they made each other better in everyday life and when Rye's family needs him, Tory is right there to help. I'm really interested in reading the other books in this series; I think there's a lot of potential here for a great series!

I had never heard of this author, but since I was approved for it on Netgalley, I wanted to give it a try. I figured it was a great day to start this yesterday since it was Valentine's Day and that's the authors last name! Plus, can you really go wrong with reading a romance novel, curled up with your kitty, with your husband next to you on Valentine's day? I think not. 

Regardless of the day I read this, I finished it in one day! It was a really quick, short read and I really loved the characters. Of course, there's something about a man in uniform and I have a soft spot for cops. My brother is a copy in Arizona and I used to work at a police department, and let me tell ya, some of those copes were very easy on the eyes! So I knew right when I read this synopsis that I wanted to get a copy of this book. 

Hunter and Evangeline met in really terrible circumstances, but since then, he hasn't been able to forget about her. Months later she moves in across the hall from him as his new neighbor and things get interesting. It was so fun to watch these two together. They both have a a very difficult past, but learn to overcome it together. It wasn't entirely unpredictable, but I still had an idea of what was going to happen. However, it didn't take away for the cuteness of the story. I definitely will be checking out what else Valentine's written!

My Review

I was in the mood to read some romance novels recently, so I went to my used local book store and stumbled upon this book. I haven't read anything by Carr before, so I thought I would give it a chance. Plus, there's something about books set in the Northwest that really draws me. I've actually never been there, but it's on my list of places to go some day, so until then, I will live vicariously through my books. 

Cooper's friend, Ben, dies unexpectedly and ultimately learns that Ben left him his bar and the 200 acres surrounding it. The bar is in dire need of help, so Cooper decides to renovate it in hopes of selling. However, as he lives in Thunder Point during the renovations, he comes to love the town and people in it, including Sarah, a Coast Guard helicopter rescue pilot. As the story unfolds, we learn that Cooper doesn't really stay in one place very long and doesn't have much of a plan to settle down any time soon. But as he gets closer to Sarah, he finds himself almost convincing her that it's okay to settle down. It's really fun to watch their friendship grow to a romance. Sarah is really reserved because of her last relationship, but Cooper doesn't pressure her. And Sarah's brother is a great supporting character as well, and I loved watching the relationship between him and Cooper grow. 

This was a really good book and I loved the characters. Plus we got a bonus love story between Mac and Gina, whose close friendship turns to love once they realize they both have been crushing on each other forever! This is definitely going to be a good series to follow! And I can't wait to see what else Carr has in store.

My Review 

After I finished reading Emerge, I immediately bought a copy of this book on my Kindle and jumped right in. I really liked Evan in Emerge and, thought I was happy with Laney and Dane getting together, I really wanted Evan to have a happy ending. The synopsis doesn't really tell you who his love interest is, but once you start reading, you find out that it's Whitley. Honestly, I wasn't a huge fan of her in Emerge, but she didn't have a big part it in. Plus, she was made to seem really clingy and whiney. But the more you read this book, the more you learn that she's a really sweet girl. She definitely grew up in a privileged family, but they didn't seem to dote on her very much and were more concerned about appearance.

Like in Emerge, I really loved the supporting characters in this book. Most of them are the same as those in Emerge, but we do meet a few new people and get to know some of the other characters better. I was a little surprised by how much of Laney and Dane's story continues on in this one. I thought it would be mostly about Evan and Whitley, but Laney and Dane's story really continues in this one. I like that, but at the same time, I wanted this to be just Evan and Whitley. Regardless, this was a really fun book and I cannot wait to read Sawyer's story!

My Review

Free books on Amazon are a hit or miss with me, but I like downloading them anyways to find new authors. Let me tell you, I am so glad that I downloaded this one when I had the chance! I was drawn in and hooked from the first page. Laney and Evan have been best friends for years, but senior year, everything changes and they become more. But it only lasts a short time because they each move away to college. They go through some ups and downs together, but they remain good friends. Then Dane comes into the picture and things change. There was definitely a love triangle going on in this story, but it didn't bother me at all. In fact, it probably made everything that much better. Both Dane and Evan want to be with Laney, and she has no idea what to do because she likes (loves) them both in different ways.

Dane is devoted to Laney and will do anything he can to keep her his, including taking her on vacations, showing her with gifts and being an all around good guy. Meanwhile, Evan has always been Laney's best friend and has put her on a pedestal. It's really fun to see these relationships grow. I had my heart set on one of the relationships working over the other and thankfully, I got what I wanted! 

This was such a fun book. I couldn't put it down and I couldn't wait to read the next in the series (if you don't want spoilers, don't read the synopsis of the next book). I really liked all the characters and they each brought their own something to the story. I loved this book so much that right when I finished it, I went onto Amazon and bought the next!

My Review

I downloaded this book when it was free on Amazon and I'm glad I found it. This book was fun but emotional dealing with loss of a loved one and domestic violence. Megan moves across country when her brother dies, moving into his house and continuing with his dream of creating a cozy, small resort. From the beginning of her new life in Pride, Megan is comforted by the Jordan siblings; Todd Jordan most of all. I liked watching these two characters slowly get to know each other and create a relationship. Megan is hesitant after her past relationship, but Todd knows how to treat her with care and show her not all men are as bad as her ex. 

I enjoyed this book and the characters; they were well developed and original. I'm interested in reading the next book in the series and those characters seem very promising as well!

I enjoyed the first book in this series, Delayed Penalty, so I was excited to get into this book. I really love hockey and really, really love romances, so this is a great combination! I would say this book definitely caught my interest right away and I really like Gaby and Landon. They've both been crushing on each other for years, but neither knows it until Landon makes the first move. It's fun to watch their relationship grow. I don't like Gaby's dad; he's a chauvinist and doesn't treat women the same. I get that he changes a little in the end, but I'm not a big fan. And Landon was a bit selfish, but he's still a fun character to get to know. This was another book that I cruised through and I'm interested in reading others in the series!

I read the first book in this series over my Christmas break from work and I fell in love with these characters, the community, and Barrett's writing style. I couldn't wait to read Jane and Preston's story in this book, so I dove right in! Let me tell you, it didn't disappoint! 

In Once and Again (review here) we met Jane and Preston, though briefly. We learned of struggles that Jane was going through, but not too much about Preston. In this book, we definitely find out more about Jane's struggles with her ex-husband and the lengths he will go to to make Jane's life difficult. Meanwhile, Preston appears completely in control of his life on the outside, but on the inside, he struggles with his father's death and his choices after. Both Jane and Preston are a little broken, but together, they complement each other perfectly. 

This book has very developed characters and I loved reading their story. Both Jane and Preston are easy to like and sympathize with, and they're strong in their own ways. Throughout the story, we see their struggles, but they help each other and grow to become and even stronger couple. You don't necessarily need to read the first book in this series before reading this one. The characters overlap, but the stories are stand-alones.

What a great way to start out my new year for books! This was a great novel by Barrett. I started it this morning when I was biking at the gym, and finished it while my husband was playing video games. We had a very relaxing day and I'm glad I was able to enjoy this book during it!

Carolyn used to be very wealthy, but she learned about a yea ago that her family doesn't have any money left, and she doesn't know what to do. So she returns to Briarwood, a club that she grew up attending with her family, and the same place she met Jake 15 years ago. They had a young, forbidden romance and both ended up broken-hearted. Jake has now come back to Briarwood as well, and the two have to learn to work together to make this business successful. Both of these characters were easy to love and relate to. Carolyn, although born with a silver spoon, really has no idea how to survive without her family's wealth. But she learns the hard way and perseveres. Jake on the other hand, grew up with next to nothing and has made himself into a multi-millionaire. Both characters are very charismatic, and I immediately loved Jake. Seriously, who doesn't love a tatted, rough-around-the-edges guy? No brainer for me! 

I love that these two characters have a history together and are getting a second chance at love. They had a lot to overcome throughout the story, but made their love work. I also really loved that this novel wasn't just about these two. We find out a little about Jane, Carolyn's new friend, and her struggles, as well as legal problems that Carolyn is facing with her family. There's so much going on in this book and it was hard to put down! Which, clearly, I didn't do much, other than to get food (: Highly recommend! And I just got the second one in this series, which I can't wait to read!

I read this book earlier this year and really enjoyed it. I just realized, as I was making lists for this upcoming year, that I never reviewed it! Oops! So I thought I would write a mini review of this one since it's been a while since I read it, but still wanted to give it the attention it deserves. There's just something about cowboys that intrigue me though I've never met a one. Maybe it's because they're working outside all day, riding horses, being with animals. I don't know. But it's pretty sexy (at least, it is in books). I know real life might not be quite that sexy, but dang, these authors know how to write about them! Jessalyn has a lot of secrets and wants to keep to herself. But once she meets Cole, it's a game changer and she won't ever be the same. This was a fun, romantic read with a lot of emotions. I've read other novels by McGinnis and I can't wait to read more!

My Mini Review

Another good, fast-paced book by James Patterson! I really enjoy this series by Patterson and always look forward to his next one. I started this series much later so I've been able to read them closer together than people who have followed from the beginning, which I think helps me interested. While I really liked this book, I think Patterson has some other novels that are a bit better. There wasn't anything particularly wrong with this book, and like I said, I still enjoyed it. I found the plot line interesting and it kept me hooked. I like this series and I'll continue to read them!

I had a bad book hangover after reading Me Before You (first review here; second here). I couldn't get over how amazing Lou and Will's story was, and I didn't want to to be over. Once I found out there was going to be a movie, it helped my hangover a little. And then I saw there was this sequel. I couldn't wait to get a copy of it! It did sit on my shelf a little longer than I wanted it to, but I had to get to some others first. Plus, let's be honest, I was a little nervous about starting this. I loved Me Before You so much that I was really worried this wouldn't be as good. 

Thankfully, my worries were unfounded. I really, really enjoyed After You. It was slower paced than Me Before You, but good nonetheless. I enjoy Lou as a character and I liked finding out what happened to her after the end of the last book. We saw her grow so much in Me Before You and in After You, she regresses a little. But I think that's to be expected after you lose someone you love. But as the book, and her life, moves on, she slowly starts coming out of her depression and living a little more. There are certain characters that help her with this and it's interesting to see how they all interact. 

I know some people felt this book wasn't necessary, but I'm glad it was written. I like Lou as a character, I wanted to find out what happened to her after, and I really like Moyes' writing. I thought she did a good job of giving the readers more info about Lou without taking away from the story in Me Before You. Very much enjoyed this book!
