Top Ten Tuesday 2.4.14

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by the The Broke and the Bookish. Every week she posts an idea for a 'Top Ten' list relating to books, and encourages other book bloggers to respond and participate. All the details are listed on her site.

This week's topic: Top ten books that will make you cry

1. The Rescue
I've read this book so many times, and it never fails to make me cry! I'm a huge Nicholas Sparks fan, so pretty much anything that he writes, I read, and I cry.

2. My Sister's Keeper, Handle With Care, Nineteen Minutes
Anything written by Jodi Picoult makes me cry. She writes such beautiful stories that tug at your heartstrings.

3. Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas
Pretty sure I cried throughout this whole book! I love that James Patterson can write beautiful love stories and also edge-of-your-seat thrillers.

4. A Child Called It
For anyone who hasn't read this, it will definitely be a book to make you cry! I cannot get over the things this child was put through! My heart just breaks every time I think about this book and child abuse.

5. Anything by Lurlene McDaniel
I used to read her books constantly when I was younger, but I haven't read any of them lately. I do remember, however, that these books ALWAYS made me cry! Especially the series above, the Angels Trilogy.

6. Harry Potter Series
Of course I can't forget this series! Such amazing books, and really kick-started my love of reading! These last two books in particular made me cry a lot.

Not quite ten listed, but if you count all Jodi Picoult books and all Nicholas Sparks books... well, then I'm well over 10 (:

  1. I've never even tried to read A Child Called It--I just don't do well with that subject matter. I didn't list any Jodi Picoult books on my list, but I certainly could have!

    1. Same here! Is it weird to say I enjoyed reading it? I didn't enjoy hearing about the child abuse, but I thought the book was very well written and it definitely opened my eyes!

  3. I work in a library and was always amazed at the selection of JP books - about 5 come out each year and they're YA, thrillers, science fiction and romance. I wasn't surprised to find out he uses ghostwriters, because he would need twenty hands to write so much. I remember Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas making me sob, My Sister's Keeper made my list too, but all JP books seem to make me cry. Great picks! My TTT :)

    1. I guess I didn't know he used ghostwriters, but like you said, it shouldn't be that surprising because of how much he writes! Thanks for stopping by (:

  4. Jodi Picoult is popular today. I haven't read anything by her yet, but I definitely want to read My Sister's Keeper - especially after seeing it on so many lists!

  5. I have The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks in my list. Nicholas Sparks just writes the kinds of stories that are heartwarming and yet heartbreaking at the same time. The Notebook was the first of his books I've read and even though it made me cry buckets, it will always have a special place in my heart. :) The Harry Potter books especially the last few were really emotional. I totally get why you also put that in your list. Thanks for sharing.

    Here's my TTT post :)

  6. Great list! I also had a Nicholas Sparks on my list as while, but mine was the Last Song. I love that book to pieces!! It's just such an amazing book!! Sadly it's one of the only books I've read by him, but I have The Rescue so I might read that soon.

    1. I think The Rescue is one of my favorite books of his! It's definitely one that seems to get passed over because it hasn't been made to a movie, much like his others have been. I think you'll enjoy it!
Thanks for stopping by and following!

  8. Nicholas Sparks's books always make me cry. That guys just has a knack for that - either happy cry or sad cry. I usually have to mentally prepare myself for his books.
