Synopsis

Dawson Scott is a well-respected journalist recently returned from Afghanistan. Haunted by everything he experienced, he's privately suffering from battle fatigue which is a threat to every aspect of his life. But then he gets a call from a source within the FBI. A new development has come to light in a story that began 40 years ago. It could be the BIG story of Dawson's career - one in which he has a vested interest.

Soon, Dawson is covering the disappearance and presumed murder of former Marine Jeremy Wesson, the biological son of the pair of terrorists who remain on the FBI's Most Wanted list. As Dawson delves into the story, he finds himself developing feelings for Wesson's ex-wife, Amelia, and her two young sons. But when Amelia's nanny turns up dead, the case takes a stunning new turn, with Dawson himself becoming a suspect. Haunted by his own demons, Dawson takes up the chase for the notorious outlaws...and the secret, starting with the truth about himself.

My Review

I received a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review.

I've been a huge Sandra Brown fan for as long as I can remember; she was one of the first adult authors I started reading! I found this book on Netgalley's website, and couldn't pass up the opportunity to read more of her work.

This book didn't disappoint and I liked it just as much as all her other books! It was full of suspense, drama, and a little romance. I love how she knows to balance everything that goes on in the story - the romance never overpowers the suspense, but the suspense doesn't destroy the little comedy throughout the story. Sandra Brown is a wonderful storyteller and I really loved the characters in this book. Amelia came across as incredibly sweet, and a wonderful mother, yet very strong after dealing with so many things. Dawson seemed like a fun guy that has been struggling after coming back from a war zone. The story kept me alert and curious about what was going to happen next; I had a hard time putting it down! And I was not expecting something that came out towards the end of the book! I think my jaw dropped a little haha (:

  1. I love Sandra Brown. I've been looking all over for Deadline and haven't been able to find it anywhere, including my local B&N. I'm THIS close to ordering online. I've never been disappointed with any of her books. She is truly a master storyteller.

    1. I believe only the Kindle edition is available right now. The print version doesn't get released until early next year.
